Sunday Afternoon, The North End
I traveled to Boston for the first time this past October and fell in love with the city and the surrounding area. On my last afternoon, I was wandering around the North End when I came across the sun shining on the buildings opposite of Bova's bakery. I wanted to compose the painting using the camera angle as inspiration, placing emphasis on the upward thrust of the structures. I also couldn't wait to paint the patina on the upper floors of the building and contrast it with the warm brick.
