"The Freshman" is an oil on canvas painting of my grandson. He posed for this portrait just before leaving for university this summer. It portrays a young man studying in the sun with his hair backlit and falling across his weary eyes. The pages of his book reflect back onto his face revealing the rays of hope at doing well this year.
