Red Maple

Oil on gessoed Masonite. Inspiration comes from Dufferin Islands in Niagara Falls Canada. I have painted many Plein air paintings at this location. It is a peaceful and serene place. This painting was created with several modifications from the original Plein air piece done several years ago. I wanted to highlight the tip of the island with a sunlit space coming through heavy foliage with a hint of highlights touching the leaves. The red maple stands proud Basking in the sunlight with the stream reflecting the colors of the surrounding landscape.
