Some symbolism for the dark times we find ourselves in in the United States. I sketched this scene from life in charcoal in March 2024.. the American flag thrown into deep dark shadow.
It felt appropriate. Later in the studio I spent a week or so recomposing things until I felt the painting worked. This was done in a relatively straight forward 3 layer process for me.
