Lago di Esso
This scene appealed to me when I saw it during a trip to visit my sister in Italy, not only because the human elements provided a warm, interesting foreground in contrast to the cooler tones of the natural landscape beyond, but also because of its inherent narrative potential, with a marine gas station set against such a beautiful, unspoiled view of the Italian Alps, which a can be seen as an allusion to the tension that can exist between humans and nature and our stewardship of the nature world.
