A Quiet Strength

This is one of my very favorite spots to paint near my home. The light is always incredible and I love the movement of the water around this bend. These large rock outcroppings give a sense of strength and stability while the seemingly gentle flow of water slowly exerts its force, changing the landscape dramatically over time. Capturing the experience of a place is part of the challenge I enjoy with watercolor. I love how the medium works, its versatility and flexibility, and the wide range of options in how to use it to convey a sense of light, space, and emotion.
