Golden Hour was painted from a set up. I bought a few bunches of sunflowers from the store and placed them in a favorite brassy, coppery vessel that I found at a junk shop. I didn't want to do a petal by petal painting but capture a mood (which I created with both natural window light and directed light from a light stand). Especially was after a chiaroscuro effect and lots of lost and found edges. I love painting from life!
