Flank Riders

This is a studio painting done from sketches and digital images from a working cattle ranch in Mariposa County, California. I spent 4 days here taking many digital images of cowboys and cowgirls working with their cattle and horses on drives, branding, etc. I have painted several paintings from these images over the past fifteen years. This painting is of a cowgirl and cowboy resting on their horses watching over strays getting ready to drive them back to the ranch.
