This piece is the first in a series titled "We Core". The series is meant to explore the fundamental aspects of different cultures, via their aesthetics. It is a celebration of our differences, and the recognition of beauty in those differences. There is representation of many, on one canvas. My intent was to have multi-faceted subject matter, while on one platform. The over-arching message here being, "No, we are NOT all the same, and that's perfectly ok, because there is beauty and grace in all of us, no matter where we come from, or how we identify." So, to show some physical aspect of one group, that is unfamiliar, or uncommon to another group, and have them draw a parallel that resonates with admiration, or beauty, or even respect, the message is received, and passed on to the next person looking at this piece. The title “We Core” of this series is derivative from a meme titled “Me Core”. Essentially you pick an image that you feel is a representation of who you are, at the core, and in typing “me core” over the image, you make the statement, “This is me inside. This is what I am about, this is what makes me up.”.
