Mating Ritual

Making the trip to southeast Missouri each year to witness the Great Blue Herons gather and nest at the rookery is always a delight! It's a challenge to capture the courtship rituals as the birds show off their breeding plumage high up in the trees, so I was thrilled to record this moment on my camera — and now in watercolor.
